Dr. Florin Pendea

Dr. Florin Pendea is a broadly trained physical geographer with research and teaching interests in environmental change and human development. In his research he uses a combination of geological and paleo-ecological techniques to answer a variety of questions concerning ecosystem and landscape change in response to climate and human forcings. His current research has two main foci:

1)      wetland ecology and development, in particular long-term ecological succession in wetlands;

2)      climate and landscape dynamics in northern prehistory with fieldwork sites in James Bay, NE Canada, and Siberian Far East, Russia.

He joined the Interdisciplinary Studies department at Orillia in 2010 and works alongside other faculty in the Environmental Sustainability program. At Lakehead-Orillia he teaches Geomorphology, Environmental Climatology, Climate Change, and Applications of Inquiry.
